Teams constantly crashing on Win11 Pro

I’ve recently had my Microsoft Teams crash over 15 times in 30 minutes while attempting to be on a call to debug a problem with an FAE – this was less than ideal.

I was on my HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg3000, Win11 Pro machine that was docked to my Anker 575 Dock, and had an Anker 3-port Usb 3.0 Hub with 3 USB 3.0 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet Converter connected.

I first thought it may be an issue with my WiFi so I plugged an ethernet cable into the Anker 3 Port/Ethernet Converter, but my Win11P laptop wouldn’t grab the connection, so I gave up trying to share my screen and continued the call on my phone.

After the call I uninstalled, reinstalled Teams (school & work) on the Win11P machine and hoped this would fix it – I was proven wrong in a call an hour later when it immediately, and repeatedly crashed.

Come to think of it, I recall having issues with teams when I first installed it on my fancy Win11P machine, perhaps this is an artifact of whatever issue this was?

Today I attempted another call, and although I didn’t check to see if the Windows 11 Pro laptop grabbed the ethernet or used the built in WiFi – this call started crashing within a few minutes of starting – voice remained, but I couldn’t see the screen that was being shared, so I fired up my older HP Pavilion Laptop with Win10 on it and joined the call. Fortunately old, and limping, was showed up for work as ‘old faithful’ and flawlessly got the job done!

This setup helped me prove that my internet connection (300/300 Mbps) was working fine, that my Anker Dock was working fine and that it is likely my new Win11Pro machine that is causing me headaches.

Today I decided that it was time to delete the cache – I followed these directions: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache

Hopefully this will work – I’ll report back in this post!
