UniFi G3 Instant Camera WiFi Change

I just modified some items and wanted to change the WiFi of the G3 Instant cameras to an IoT network that separates IoT devices from other devices.

It appears that you can do this in the Protect app – under the WiFi Connection section – but it DOES NOT work, it simply appears to try to work!

This does NOT modify the desired SSID for the camera.
This setting does NOT modify your WiFi Connection

In order to change the WiFi SSID, you have to log directly into the camera.

The username is: ubnt

The password is randomly generated when you adopted the camera, so you have to go to Protect -> Settings -> Export Configuration and download the configuration file.

Migration File Download Location

Once you download the file, open it and search for ‘password‘ to get the camera’s password.

Go to the camera’s IP address and log in. Remember the default username for the G3 Instant is ‘ubnt’.

I noticed that the password for both of my cameras are identical.

When you are logged in, select the ‘Wireless‘ tab and use this interface to successfully modify the SSID.

I hope this saves someone time!
